A few years back I got talked into doing a one hour artist "talk" during an art festival weekend at the Oregon Coast. Well, I'm not the type that can get up and talk about art for an hour in a way that is profound, witty or worthwhile without an insane amount of prep time. So I decided to just get up and paint and chat with the folks that came by instead of doing some sort of art lecture. The only problem being I did zero prep work for what I was going to paint in front of the people. This is usually a bad thing. I've painted some really lame art in front of people because of a lack of planning in the past, but some times it works out on the fly.

For this particular painting I asked the people who were watching what type of subject I should paint and what kind of colors I should use. Some one suggested a waterfall and one of the ladies really liked purples and blues. I picked a few other colors and went on my way "winging" a waterfall painting and inventing the scene as I went while paying more attention to chatting with the people watching than the painting. I got a good start on it, but didn't finish it that day and the painting got set aside to finish later. Well, I found it about a month ago, liked my start and decided to finish it.
